Victoria designates Greater Brisbane a ‘red zone’ after new COVID cases in Queensland
Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has declared that Greater Brisbane is now a designated red zone under Victoria’s travel permit system.
Key points:
- Victorians will need a permit to return to the state and will have to self-isolate for 14 days
- Gladstone and Byron Bay have been designated as an orange zone
- Brett Sutton said it was a calculated risk to travel to the hotspot areas over the Easter period
Victorians returning home will need a permit, and most will need to self-quarantine immediately upon arrival back in the state.
Only people with a permit will be permitted to enter the state.
The move affects anyone who has been in Brisbane since March 12.
