North Korea launches suspected ballistic missiles into ocean near Japan in first test since Joe Biden’s inauguration
North Korea has fired two suspected ballistic missiles into the ocean near Japan in what is believed to be a test launch.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said the missiles were fired on Thursday — the same day as the commencement of the Olympic torch relay in Fukushima — but there is no indication the two events are linked at this stage.
“The first launch in just less than a year represents a threat to peace and stability in Japan and the region, and violates UN resolutions,” Mr Suga said.
