Music industry welcomes ‘critical’ COVID lifeline but urges government to distribute cash fast

The music industry has welcomed a $135 million funding boost to help it restart post-COVID, but has urged the federal government to get the money out the door quickly as the end of JobKeeper hits businesses hard.

The government on Thursday announced $125 million for its RISE program, which provides grants to artists, tour promoters and festivals to help them stage events, which have been largely shut down since March 2020.
