Southern Downs residents report ‘rivers of water’ as rain continues to fall out west
Residents in south-west Queensland say there are “rivers of water” flowing on their properties as rain continues to drench the state.
Mayors in western towns said they were hopeful the “weather pattern” had now turned for drought-stricken families in their regions.
Parts of the Southern Downs, including Clumber and Wilson’s Peak, have received more than 100 millimetres since 9:00am yesterday, while properties in the state’s west were also recording falls of about 60mm.
A severe weather warning is in place for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, with heavy rainfall expected to continue today.
