American, Chinese diplomats clash publicly at start of first talks under Joe Biden’s presidency

The United States and China have leveled sharp rebukes of each other’s policies in their first high-level, in-person talks of the Biden administration.

- China’s top diplomat Yang Jiechi lashed out at the US in a 15 minute speech
- The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken then responded, with a scheduled four minute opening section blowing out to run for an hour
- Mr Blinken said he would raise the issue of China’s internment camps in the Xinjiang region
