Vitamin D does not protect against most cancers: QIMR research

Research has refuted suggestions that vitamin D supplements can reduce a person’s risk of developing most cancers.
Vitamin D’s anti-cancer benefits are a source of contention among medical scientists, but the latest research from QIMR Berghofer appears to have shown definitively that the use of vitamin D supplements is unlikely to prevent cancer.

Lead researcher, QIMR’s Dr Jue-Sheng Ong, said the researchers used genetic data from more than 400,000 people to look for correlations between vitamin D and a range of cancers.
