WA election: Family violence prevention high on agenda as parties commit to more funding

Every day at work, Kristy Darnborough provides support to families experiencing violence within their homes.

As a counsellor, she works predominantly with women and children who have been the victims of domestic violence and the men who have perpetrated that violence.

“The priority in all the work we do is women and children’s safety,” Ms Darnborough said.

“[And it] gives men an opportunity to acknowledge their abuse and also the opportunity to look at the beliefs and attitudes that have led to them choosing to be abusive.”
