Teen impaled by metal railing in single-vehicle crash

A teen has been rushed to hospital after he was impaled during a single-vehicle crash.
The youth was travelling in a car with two others in Cairns on Sunday night when it veered off the road into a ditch.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the teen had to be cut from the vehicle after he was impaled from behind by a metal railing.
He was taken to Cairns Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The other two occupants of the vehicle were also taken to hospital for observation.
