The former captain of a Canberra women’s rugby league team has been told she should have known better, after she was convicted of punching the team manager.

- Kaurna Peckham was given a good behaviour order for 18 months and has agreed to take part in restorative justice
- The victim was left bruised and suffering a migraine
- Prosecutors said the offence was at the high end of seriousness because the victim had been hit in the head
Kaurna Peckham, 33, pleaded guilty to the assault, which happened during a training session for the South Tuggeranong Knights in 2019.
Court documents have revealed Peckham become involved in a verbal dispute with another player during a practice drill, eventually telling her to “f*** off”.
