A young motorist who killed a teenage girl while “hooning” and “showing off” outside a birthday party in the southern WA town of Esperance has been sentenced to more than seven-and-a-half years in jail.

Brodie Lee Gibbard, 21, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 16-year-old Kaitlyn Scott, who suffered catastrophic injuries when she was hit by his vehicle in the early hours of August 11, 2018.

Gibbard, who was with his girlfriend, then drove away in his badly damaged car, leaving other partygoers to attend to Ms Scott…
