Queensland dentist whose tools were not sterilised properly cops fine

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service medical services executive director Don Mackie said the strong fines showed how seriously the service took infection control.
“This dentist was found to have been using instruments and tools on patients that had not been properly sterilised,” he said.
“Further, the company failed to ensure staff responsible for sterilising instruments were suitably trained in how to sterilise instruments.
“The outcome of this matter today highlights the extreme nature of the breaches, and the serious public health risks presented to patients by the defendants.”
In a statement, Dr Hossen’s lawyer Scott Osborne, of Osborne Butler Lawyers, said his client was “deeply embarrassed and remorseful”…
