WA election: Liberals pledge fast-tracked public housing, as Labor claims plan ‘financially reckless’

Western Australia’s peak social housing advocate has welcomed the Liberal Party’s pre-election pledge to fast-track new public housing, while Labor has labelled the plan financially reckless.

Under the Liberals’ plan, the WA Government would build 2,600 houses within five years, while the not-for-profit sector would construct 2,000 extra homes through funds leveraged from an asset transfer program.
