Mentally-ill man jailed for stabbing NSW police officer at Sydney’s Central Station
A mentally-ill man who stabbed a police officer in the back at Sydney’s Central Station has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.

Mark Thompson was in a psychotic state when he walked up behind Constable Hayden Edwards with a 30-centimetre hunting knife in April 2019.
CCTV footage shows the then-30-year-old officer falling to the ground when he was stabbed, before quickly turning around and drawing his gun as two colleagues help to protect him.
The NSW District Court heard Thompson, 54, has had schizophrenia for about a decade.
