Streets closed over suspected hostage, siege
Police have shut down numerous streets in Brisbane’s south side as they try to negotiate a suspected hostage situation.
On Thursday morning Queensland Police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act due to a “police incident” in Sunnybank.
Early reports suggest an armed man has taken a child hostage at a home near Banoon train station, but police would are yet to confirm the specifics of the situation.
As a result, the public has been asked to avoid the zone, bounded by Dyson Ave, Geddes Place, Beenleigh Rd…
