Victorian mother fined by Tasmania Police for leaving Hobart hotel quarantine in a taxi

A Victorian mother has been fined $774 for breaching hotel quarantine in Tasmania.

Tasmania Police said the woman had travelled to Hobart from Victoria with her young child yesterday before leaving the Ibis Hotel at 6:20pm in a taxi.

The pair were returned to the quarantine hotel in Hobart’s CBD by police at 7:40pm.

Contact tracers from Tasmania’s Public Health Service are now working to identify any other movements or contacts during the time they were out of quarantine.

The woman will also be subjected to additional testing and more frequent COVID-19 screening for symptoms.
