Shoppers who visited the Narellan Town Centre shopping centre on July 6 have been warned to monitor their health after a fellow shopper was later revealed to be infected with coronavirus. NSW Chief Health Minister Kerry Chant said the warning was in place for those who had visited the southwest Sydney mall’s Kmart, Target, Best and Less and H&M branches as well as the centre’s food court.
Ms Chant issued a similar warning for people who had visited Zone Bowling at Villawood on June 27, urging Aussies to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms – and if they occur, to “isolate and get tested from COVID right away”.
However, she stressed authorities were “not actually asking people to isolate themselves”.
“The interviews have highlighted that … either the individuals were unlikely to be infectious at these times, or the nature of the contact at these venues was minimal but we do want to highlight these settings and ensure that people are appropriately isolating information changes we will provide an update,” Dr Chant said today.
“This is a critical time where I urge you to come forward for testing.

“If you have an itchy, scratchy throat even the mildest symptoms, please come forward for testing.”
It is understood the individuals in both cases had travelled to NSW from Victoria.
She also revealed more venues where positive cases have visited in late June and early July, including Highfield Caringbah in southern Sydney, Merimbula RSL and The Waterfront Cafe on the NSW south coast, Murray Downs Golf Club, COOK at Kurnell, Planet Fitness Casula, Star City Casino and Canterbury Leagues Club.
The news comes as a Kmart staff member has tested positive for coronavirus at a major Melbourne shopping centre.
Kmart confirmed that the branch at Greensborough Plaza in Melbourne’s north had been closed for deep cleaning, but would reopen tomorrow.
“At Kmart, the health and safety of our team and customers is our highest priority and we can confirm that a team member at our Kmart Greensborough store has returned a positive result for COVID-19,” a spokesperson said.
“As soon as we were made aware, we immediately closed the store as a safety precaution and we’re currently conducting a thorough sanitisation of the store and will reopen tomorrow.
“We are working closely with the Department of Health and will continue to keep our team and customers informed.”
Meanwhile, a coronavirus cluster at the Crossroads Hotel in Casula in Sydney has now been linked to as many as 21 cases, with Bulldogs centre Jake Averillo unable to train or play with his team until July 19 after his parents visited the hotel on July 5.
