Modernist building at centre of heritage debate slated for protection – Sydney Morning Herald
The fate of the MLC building in North Sydney is now in the hands of a NSW government minister.
The Heritage Council has made a decision consistent with the significance of the building and its good news for mid-century modern architecture in the city, Mr Robertson said.
The 27-storey, sloped structure proposed to replace the MLC.
It does form a major impediment to its demolition.
The Sydney Morning Herald has sought comment from Mr Harwins office.
Notable for its early use of a glass-curtain wall, the block is also locally protected as a heritage item on the North Sydney Local Environment…
