Major highway closed off after massive flooding in WA’s northwest caused by a tropical low
A tropical low has caused an area in Western Australias northwest to experience its worst flooding in more than a decade, forcing a major highway to be blocked off for days.The Gascoyne River peaked at 7.1m at the Nine Mile Bridge gauge, near Carnarvon, on Saturday morning.
“In recent years (last 50 years) this flood ranks in the top 10 floods for Carnarvon and historically the river floods this high once every 10 years approximately,” the Bureau of Meteorology said on Sunday.
