Point Danger lighthouse redevelopment to be completed by December
Redevelopment of the Point Danger lighthouse and volunteer marine rescue site will begin in April.

- The 50-year-old lighthouse redevelopment will be a joint Gold Coast/Tweed shire project
- The Point Danger lighthouse was one of the first worldwide to trial laser technology
- Volunteer marine rescue operations will continue at a nearby location during the redevelopment
Because the popular tourist attraction straddles the Queensland–New South Wales border, the construction project is a joint effort between the City of Gold Coast and the Tweed Shire Council.
“Construction will start in April and hopefully all going well it will be finished by the end of the year,” Gold Coast councillor Gail O’Neill said.
