Darwin mass shooter Benjamin Hoffman’s lawyers still deciding on mental impairment defence

The NT Supreme Court has heard it is still unclear if the man charged over a mass shooting in Darwin in 2019 will mount a defence of mental impairment less than two months out from the beginning of his murder trial.

Benjamin Glenn Hoffmann is charged with the alleged murder of four men — Hassan Baydoun, Michael Sisois, Nigel Hellings and Robert Courtney — and other serious offences in relation to a series of shootings in the inner suburbs of Darwin in June 2019.
