Sydney news: NSW rolls out new restriction for Western Australia travellers after COVID-19 case
Here’s what you need to know this morning.
WA case brings new rules
NSW Health has announced all travellers from Western Australia coming to NSW since January 25 would be subject to the same stay-at-home restrictions as they would face had they stayed in WA.
The announcement follows WA yesterday recording a positive COVID-19 case — a hotel quarantine worker — and entering a snap five-day lockdown.
The new restriction comes as Queensland reopened its border to all of NSW after six weeks of closure, meaning travellers do not require a border permit or a hotel quarantine stint to travel north anymore.
NSW has not recorded a local case of COVID-19 in 14 days.
