Brisbane Invasion Day rally expected to draw thousands

Prime Minister Scott Morrison last week drew criticism over comments that the circumstances of the settlement in 1788 had been difficult for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The event was set to start with a flag raising in Musgrave Park in South Brisbane at 8am, followed by a rally at Queens Gardens in Brisbane City at 10am, and the march through the CBD at 11am.

Brisbane Aboriginal–Sovereign Embassy spokesman Wayne Wharton said a big turnout was expected after strong attendance at last year’s Invasion Day and NAIDOC Week protests.
