US President Joe Biden lifts minimum wage, offers economic relief in latest executive orders
US President Joe Biden has sped up financial relief for millions affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in his latest executive orders.

- The economic relief comes as Congress prepares to consider his $US1.9 trillion package
- The President said the US coronavirus death toll, which stands at 400,000, could reach 600,000
- The latest orders try to make it easier for people to claim direct payments and other benefits
The two executive orders Mr Biden signed would increase food aid, protect job seekers on unemployment and clear a path for federal workers and contractors to get a $US15 ($19.44) hourly minimum wage.
This comes as Congress begins to consider his much larger $US1.9 trillion ($2.46 trillion) package.
