National Cabinet has all but dashed the hopes of lifting international arrival caps for Australians struggling to return home for almost another month.

Australians stranded abroad had hoped state, territory and federal leaders would lift the arrival caps at their meeting today, a fortnight after temporarily halving arrivals in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia to halt the spread of a new strain of COVID-19.
