Morrison, Palaszczuk butt heads over regional quarantine plan
Queensland’s plan to send international arrivals to regional mining facilities has sparked fears among locals that Brisbane’s problems will be “dumped” on them, Scott Morrison says.
A Palaszczuk government plan to quarantine arrivals in Gladstone, likely using a mining facility at Calliope, has caused division in the Coalition.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack backed the proposal, provided the facilities were properly secured, but faces opposition from local MPs.
