47 Australian Open players in hard quarantine after COVID cases – Al Jazeera English
Tennis Australia says Grand Slam will begin on February 8 despite anger from players forced into hard quarantine.
Four coronavirus cases have been detected on charter flights carrying tennis players, coaches and officials to Melbourne for the Australian Open, forcing 47 players into strict hotel quarantine.
Health authorities confirmed there had been three positive tests for COVID-19 on Saturday, and another on Sunday.
None of the cases so far have involved players, although one was Sylvain Bruneau, who coaches Canadian womens world number 7 Bianca Andreescu.
