Suspended jail sentence for Ho Anh Dung, who jumped from ship docked in Albany

A Vietnamese man has received a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to breaching laws designed to protect the community from COVID-19 transmission.

Ho Anh Dung appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday to be sentenced over his decision to leave a bulk carrier ship at port early Saturday morning and swim to shore.
Police in heavy protective gear arrested the 37-year-old on Saturday night outside an Albany backpackers hostel.
