Spanish snow storm Filomena kills four, traps thousands in cars and airports
A persistent blizzard has blanketed large parts of Spain with 50-year record levels of snow, killing at least four people and leaving thousands trapped in cars, train stations and airports.

- More than 650 roads were blocked by snow leaving some drivers stuck overnight
- Schools and universities are closed until Wednesday
- The State Meteorological Agency said it was the heaviest snowfall in Madrid since 1971
Storm Filomena caused travel chaos across the country with national troops being mobilised to rescue trapped motorists.
