Potential coronavirus PPE breach with UK patient forces WA paramedic into quarantine

Two West Australians are in hotel quarantine over concerns surrounding possible breaches of personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
Key points:
- The paramedic took a COVID-19 patient from quarantine to hospital
- Testing is being done to see if the patient has the new UK strain
- State authorities will hold an emergency meeting this afternoon
WA Premier Mark McGowan said one of the cases involved an ambulance officer who transported a COVID-19 positive patient from hotel quarantine to hospital yesterday.
The patient, a woman in her 80s, arrived from the United Kingdom on January 2 before being placed in hotel quarantine.
She was transported to Royal Perth Hospital yesterday after requiring medical attention.
