Meet Arnold and Gregory, two vintage collectors who’ve built their lives around a love of all things ‘funky and wild’

Inside a dimly lit shop in the backstreets of Kings Cross, you’ll often find Arnold Kieldgaard sitting behind an iconic ’60s retro wave bar.

The presence of his favourite antique teacup is almost guaranteed. His style on any given day is not.

“I’m a freestyler, so I wear whatever I want,” he says.

Also known as Arnie, he’s a recognisable figure in the area, in Sydney’s inner city.

“They know I’m the ‘vintage guy’ from the way I dress,” he says.

“I mean you’ve got your corporate people wearing their suits and things, but there’s a lot of young people who are in bands and creative people who are dressed really out there, so I love that.”
