COVID-19 fragments found in Queensland wastewater from Cairns to Loganholme

Viral fragments of COVID-19 have been detected in sewage at treatment plants at four locations across the state, according to Queensland Health.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said routine wastewater tests collected on December 29 and 30 returned positive results in Warwick, Stanthorpe, Loganholme and Cairns.

Dr Young said it’s particularly concerning in light of the ongoing situation in New South Wales and Victoria.
