In response, a line of people soon formed to be tested at the only then-open fever clinic — at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
However, the clinic closed at 9:00pm on Saturday night and hundreds were turned away.
Speaking on the Gold Coast today, Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said there needed to be more testing sites that did not require a GP referral.
