US House of Representatives approves Donald Trump’s $2,000 COVID stimulus cheques
The United States House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted to increase COVID-19 relief cheques to $US2,000, meeting President Donald Trump’s demand for bigger payments.

- The vote is a reversal of similar ones days before where many Republicans voted against it
- The bill will now go to the Republican-led Senate for a vote
- The House has also voted to override US President Donald Trump’s defence veto
The vote was led by Democrats, but dozens of Republicans suddenly joined in approval to see the bill pass 275-134.
