In Australia, three children have died from injuries after swallowing a button battery. Since December 2017, there have been about 44 individual cases of young children suffering severe injuries after eating or swallowing button batteries.
One of those who narrowly escaped injury was Denise Macfadyen’s three-year-old son Trent who swallowed a battery. Luckily, he was old enough to say what had happened and was treated before it caused damage.
