Former Ipswich mayor Andrew Antoniolli wins appeal against fraud conviction
Former Ipswich mayor Andrew Antoniolli has won an appeal against his fraud convictions.
Mr Antoniolli, 49, was last year found guilty of 13 fraud-related offences and sentenced to six months’ jail wholly suspended.
He was convicted of misusing more than $10,000 of council funds to buy auction items at charity events while working as a councillor using the Ipswich Council Community Donation Fund.
Antoniolli acted on CEO advice, court hears
Ipswich District Court Judge Dennis Lynch QC handed down his decision on Friday morning, after upholding the appeal by Mr Antoniolli.
