Queensland detects largest single-day rise in COVID cases for months

Experts say the sudden rise in cases shows the hotel quarantine system is working as intended.
Griffith University infectious diseases expert Nigel McMillan says as coronavirus cases increase in many parts of the northern hemisphere, more cases will be detected in hotel quarantine.
“It’s a reflection of the fact that things are in a poor state of control internationally, particularly the US and Europe, and that people returning to Australia just have a higher likelihood of coming back infected,” Professor McMillan said.
“It points to the success of our hotel quarantine program in protecting us and detecting those cases.”
