WA farmer Gregory Johnston found not guilty of murdering wife Susi in fiery Borden crash

A WA farmer accused of murdering his wife more than a decade ago by “staging a car crash” so he could be with another woman has been found not guilty after a second Supreme Court trial.
Key points:
- Susi Johnston died in a car crash on the family farm in 2008
- Her husband, Gregory Johnston, was charged with her murder in 2018
- He first stood trial last year, but the jury could not reach a verdict
The verdict came almost 12 years ago to the day since 56-year-old Susi Johnston perished when the car in which she was a passenger hit a tree and burst into flames on the family’s property in Borden, in the state’s Great Southern region.
Her husband, Gregory Johnston, was behind the wheel and escaped unscathed.
He initially told police he had blacked out…
