Fraser Island fire could worsen: Annastacia Palaszczuk
Gusty winds and hot conditions are set to further fuel the out-of-control Fraser Island bushfire, but the Queensland Premier is adamant that “everything that can be done is being done”.
The blaze, which has been burning for seven weeks, is understood to have been started by an illegal campfire and has since razed through 50 per cent of the island.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services warn the fire could continue to burn unless the island received “significant rain” soon.
