The family of Emma Swain – who died of cervical cancer after her original fears were dismissed 15 times by her GP – has received an apology and compensation after a six-year-legal battle.
The 22-year-old London woman had first asked her GP for a pap smear in May 2013 after she experienced back pain and bleeding after sex.
Her doctor repeatedly told her that she was too young to have the test, and instead blamed her contraceptive pill.
Less than a year later, Emma was dead.
