Vision of truck crash death near Townsville
The aftermath of a horrific collision between a semi-trailer and a B-double truck in which one of the drivers was “instantly” killed has been captured on video.
Twisted trucks, vehicle parts and boxes of lychees are strewn across the Bruce Highway at Stuart, near Townsville.
The collision occurred about 10.10pm on Tuesday, causing the B-double to roll down an embankment just north of the Townsville crematorium, police said.
The driver of the B-double, a 64-year-old Gulliver man, sustained significant injuries and died at the scene.
The 61-year-old male driver of the semi-trailer was transported to Townsville University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
