Medicare cover for psychologist for children should be easier

Medicare-funded therapy sessions have been a blessing for many people who previously
couldn’t afford to see a psychologist. But there are a few problems with the way the
current system operates.
Since 2005, Australians can obtain a Medicare refund on sessions with a registered
psychologist, if referred by their General Practitioner (GP). This refund – partially or fully
covering sessions, depending on the psychologist’s fees – helps Australians get back to
leading satisfying, productive lives.
