The way positive coronavirus cases are being recorded has changed.
Previously, cases were assigned to local authorities based on the address a covid-19 positive patient had recorded with the NHS.
So if someone was registered with the NHS to an address in Stockton, for example, but was living in Middlesbrough, a positive test they took would be recorded in Stockton’s figures.
It also means that a university student testing positive for covid would not show in the place they were studying, if they…
