Jet skiers crash after being pelted with rocks by teens
Two jet riders have narrowly escaped serious injury after they struck a bridge pylon while trying to avoid being pelted with rocks thrown by a group of teens.
The 17-year-olds were travelling on a jet ski along Cornmeal Creek at Maroochydore when about half a dozen teens gathered on Duporth Ave Bridge and started hurling large rocks, police say.
The startled jet riders were forced to take evasive action and swerved, resulting in them colliding with one of the bridge pylons.
Both were thrown into the creek upon impact, while the $8000 jet ski was a write-off.
The driver of the recreational water vessel sustained a wrist injury and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
