Woman dead in house fire

An elderly woman has died in an apartment fire south of Brisbane after she raised the alarm with her medical alert bracelet.
Police were called to Ewing Road, Woodridge just before 2am on Thursday to find an apartment ablaze and full of smoke.
Fire crews had to break through the front and back doors to get inside.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said it had taken less than 30 minutes to put the fire out, but at that point left the scene in the hands of police.
Acting Senior Sergeant Lawrie Catterson said the sole resident, a 73-year-old woman had to be dragged outside.
“The female was brought out to the front of the dwelling where paramedics performed CPR on her,” he told reporters from the scene.
