Cautious start for ASX as US votes roll in; $A hits US72c – The Sydney Morning Herald
The ASX slipped by as much as 0.7% as the US presidential poll entered its final hours. Wall Street surged higher overnight, while the Aussie also jumped.
The Australian sharemarket has endured a subdued start as investors await developments in the US presidential election. The ASX 200 was flat after 15 minutes at 6065.1 even after an overnight Wall Street surge as polls pointed to a Joe Biden win.
Afterpay helped local tech shares higher, adding 1.3 per cent to $100.36. Nearmap, Appen, Wisetech Global and EML Payments were also ahead. Toll giant Transurban was up 0.9 per cent to $13.66 and Brambles added 0.6 per cent to $10.21 to help industrials…
