QATB Superintendent William Fredrick Blake was born in Mackay in 1885 and he commenced as an Honorary Ambulance Officer in his birth place in 1907. A few short years later, he was offered permanency there before he was promoted to Officer in Charge at Sarina and later transferred to Finch Hatton. In 1927, he was promoted to Superintendent at Yarraman and in 1934 was appointed to Superintendent at Wynnum until his retirement in 1954. Blake served the Queensland community for 47 years and this week’s #ThrowbackThursday honours his time with the ambulance service.
