‘Woohoo’: Melbourne shoppers, bar-hoppers toast first taste of freedoms – The Age

After the state government announced on Monday that new rules for retail and hospitality would take effect at 11.59pm on Tuesday, some shopping chains opened their doors at midnight.
Some 10,000 customers passed through Kmart’s five late-night stores between midnight and 6am, managing director Ian Bailey told 3AW radio.
At Barkly Square in Brunswick, a steady stream of customers moved through all morning.
