Oscar Wylee coughs up millions for making false claims about its charitable giving

Trendy eyewear retailer Oscar Wylee has been forced to cough up millions of dollars for making deceptive claims about donating glasses to poor people in developing countries.The Federal Court has ordered the optometry retailer to pay $3.5 million in penalties after it was revealed it had lied about its charity campaign “buy a pair, give a pair”, where one pair of glasses was purported to be donated to charity for every purchase in store.
