Westpac economist says RBA open to idea of further interest rate cuts

One of Australias leading economists says the Reserve Bank of Australia is hinting it may cut interest rates again if the countrys recession deepens. Westpac chief economist Bill Evans says the central bank has provided clues it is considering a cut to support the country’s economic recovery.
Minutes from the RBA’s monthly board meeting have revealed a change in wording, with the bank saying it will “continue to consider how further monetary measures could support the recovery”.
