Gareth Bale was greeted with a heros welcome when he linked back with Tottenham in September but it has been far from the ideal homecoming.
The Welsh star returned to Spurs on a deal worth around £230,000 per week ($A408,000) but has failed to live up to the hefty price tag.
Struggling for game time and form, Bale has not established himself as the genuine game-winning option Tottenham need him to be given how much it cost to bring him over from Real Madrid.
